Our History
Opera on Tap (OOT) was born in 2005 at Freddy’s Bar and Backroom in Brooklyn and incorporated in 2007. We arrived in Boston in 2012, headed by Kathryn McKellar and Kristina Riegle with the goal of creating new performance opportunities for the city’s vibrant classical singer community. With live shows in unconventional venues ranging from public parks to bars to farmer’s markets across greater Boston, we’ve introduced audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds to opera in performance formats that are fun, inclusive and accessible.
Commitment to Community
Opera on Tap Boston is proud to partner with the Mass Cultural Council – in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, and the Massachusetts Health Connector - to offer the Card to Culture program, the most comprehensive effort of its kind in the nation to open doors to arts and culture experiences for low-income families. See the full list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.
Card to Culture gives EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare card holders and one guest free tickets to Opera on Tap events. Email Boston@operaontap.com for tickets.
