Marcus Schenck
Marcus Schenck (he/him), a Boston-based baritone, is thrilled to be performing with Opera on Tap for the the organization’s first performance of 2024. His last performance with Opera on Tap Boston was the explorative and intimate ‘I Am What I Am’ concert, where he performed pieces from Chris Deblasio’s All the Way Through Evening, Benjamin Britten’s Songs and Proverbs of William Blake, Gregory Spears’ Fellow Travelers, and William Finn’s A New Brain. Recent performances include Schlendrian in Bach’s Coffee Catata in West End Lyric’s inaugural performance, the Broadway revue In Praise of Vanity with American Classics, the title role in Marc Hoffeditz’s Mr. Twister and the Tale of Tornado Alley, Bottom in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Miami Music Festival, the Baritone Soloist in Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols the Bass Soloist in Mozart’s Krönungsmesse with the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, Lore in The Maid of Orleans with Opera Company of Middlebury. Don Bartolo (The Marriage of Figaro) with Boston Opera Collaborative, The King (The Little Prince) with NEMPAC Opera Project, and Le Gouverneur (Le comte Ory) with Lowell House Opera. Marcus is a strong advocate for making stories of underrepresented creators and characters accessible to audiences while performing and creating new works or inventing updated interpretations of classics for our time.
In upcoming performances, Marcus will be welcomed as a guest artist with Boston Conservatory Opera in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Bottom in April 2024, as well as giving recital performances alongside soprano Natalia St Jean and pianist James Myers in June 2024 in the greater Boston area.
