Sophia Herscu (she/her) Ed.M. is an artist and educator based in Boston, MA dedicated to creating opportunities for learning and performance in circus arts and aerial dance. Sophia is a co-owner of Boston’s Commonwealth Circus Center and is a co-founder of Boston-based Circus 617. She has previously worked with Frequent Flyers Aerial and Iluminar Productions and currently works with Boston Circus Guild and Spoke Movement Ensemble. Sophia was a Next Steps for Boston Grantee in the 2022 cohort and was a Boston Foundation Live Arts Boston Grantee with Circus 617 in 2021. A graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she is endlessly interested in pushing athletic rigor, building community through the arts and education, and telling human stories in three-dimensional space.
